I decided to start a new series made up of square canvases and the same color palette of neutrals, grays, metallics and a little bit of aqua. I have been very interested in speed painting as well as abstract painting that gives a sense of motion and texture. I love to work fast, moving my hands before my mind has too much to say. I often begin by just placing the paint directly onto the canvas, grabbing a brush or sponge and then just seeing what happens. I picked up several new colors today, including some Transparent Magic White spray paint!
The clerk at the art store said that the spray paint would help to create an atmospheric tone...muting background colors but still allowing them to show through.
I am just loving where the three paintings are headed, and I cant wait to make more! I think I will call the series, "Weathering"...as each piece reminds me of the elements of nature intertwining together. The weather plays such a big part of our life experience, from our memories to our clothes...the seasons shuffle through year after year...and when we travel around we can experience balmly beaches as well as snow storms...when you look back, all your memories are colored by the weather of your experience... :) Also, the double meaning...of...we are all weathering life together!
